The billable hour was never built for you.
The legal system today isn't managed for everyone. It became slow. Expensive. Complicated.
Somewhere along the way, procedure and process became weaponised. Where you couldn't escape the billable hour.
We believe there is a better way - where technology removes barriers instead of creating them, where lawyers spend their time solving problems instead of preparing documents, where everyone can pursue justice without risking their life savings.
That's why we built ezysplit.

Talk to Rachel →Your situation
Every family law matter. One guide.
Tell Rachel your situation and she identifies every form you need. Most separating couples need more than one.
Applying for Divorce
To apply for divorce in Australia, you must have been separated for at least 12 months. It's one of the most straightforward applications in family law - rarely a legal dispute, mostly gruntwork. Rachel prepares your Application for Divorce and any supporting affidavits, and guides you through the service requirements.
Parenting & Children's Orders
Where will the children live? How will time be shared? If you and your ex agree, this is mostly paperwork - Rachel prepares your Parenting Plan or Application for Consent Orders. If you don't agree, you'll usually need to try mediation first. That's a legal judgment call, not a form-filling one, so your lawyer leads it and Rachel handles the paperwork.
Separating from a De Facto Partner
Never married? You don't need a divorce. Once you meet the eligibility rules, you have essentially the same rights as married couples for property, super and children. You generally need to have been together for at least 2 years in total, have a child together, have registered your relationship, or have made substantial contributions where missing out would be seriously unfair. In WA, de facto matters are handled under WA law - Rachel will tell you if that applies to you.
Property & Financial Settlement
Dividing property, superannuation and other assets starts with full and frank financial disclosure from both of you - one of the most detail-intensive parts of family law, but still gruntwork. Rachel guides you through it: assets, debts, income, super and contributions. Working out what's actually a fair split is a judgment call - that's where a lawyer earns their fee.
Consent Orders
When you and your ex already agree on parenting or property arrangements, consent orders make it legally binding - no court appearance, just the right paperwork done properly. Rachel prepares the Application for Consent Orders and proposed orders, and your lawyer checks them before they're filed, so you're not paying thousands in hourly fees to write up an agreement you've already reached.
Domestic & Family Violence
If you're in danger right now, call 000. For confidential support 24/7, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732. When you're safe to talk, our family lawyers can help with parenting and property matters where family violence is involved. These matters aren't handled by Rachel alone - you'll speak with a person.
Child Support
Most parents start with a free Services Australia assessment, which they can apply for themselves. If you'd rather set your own amount, a Binding Child Support Agreement locks it in - but both of you need independent legal advice and a lawyer's certificate. Rachel explains your options, and our lawyers draft the agreement and give you your certificate.
Not sure what your situation needs? Just tell Rachel.
She'll work it out, honestly.
Common questions
Family law questions, answered plainly
How much does a divorce cost with ezysplit?
A Simple Divorce is a fixed $899. That covers a joint application, prepared, checked and filed by an Australian lawyer. The court filing fee is separate: $1,170 from 1 July 2026, or $390 if you're eligible for the reduced fee. See applying for divorce.
Is Rachel a lawyer?
No. Rachel is an AI paralegal. She does the gruntwork: working out what kind of matter you have, which forms you need, and preparing them. A qualified Australian family lawyer reviews your paperwork before it reaches the court and gives you the legal advice.
Do you charge by the hour?
No, never. Every matter gets a fixed fee, quoted upfront before any work begins, plus a flat $250 a month lawyer retainer to keep your case moving. The retainer isn't charged on a Simple Divorce.
How long do I need to be separated before I can apply for divorce?
At least 12 months. You can file once you've been separated for 12 months and 1 day, with or without your ex's agreement.
Is property split 50/50 in Australia?
No. There's no automatic 50/50 split. The test is what's fair in your circumstances, looking at what you each have and owe, what you each contributed, and your future needs. See property settlement.
How much does a parenting matter cost?
If you and the other parent agree, it's a fixed $1,500 for a parenting plan and parenting consent orders ready to file. If you don't agree, it's a fixed $3,000, including mediation preparation and a lawyer with you at mediation. Both include the $250 a month lawyer retainer.
What if I'm not safe?
If you're in danger right now, call 000. For confidential support 24/7, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732. Family violence matters go straight to a family lawyer and are never handled by AI alone. See domestic and family violence.
